All of us get plenty to deal with in life for which we didn't ask.  There are a lot of people on our planet and we firmly believe that part of the reason for this is so that we can help each other out with our "stuff".   The following are agencies and individuals who are trained to assist us when our "stuff" starts to feel too heavy to bear on our own:

Common Warning Signs That Someone May Be Suicidal:

Verbal Threats:  Statements like, "I wish I were dead", or "You'd be better off without me"...

Dramatic changes in behavior.

Substance abuse.

Giving away possessions.

It's
possible that someone who shows some suicidal behavior has no intention of ending his or her life, but don't take chances.

Be direct:  Talk openly with the person.  Ask questions like, "Are you thinking about suicide?"  "Would you be willing to talk with someone who could help?"

Be a good listener.  Don't argue.  Don't lecture.  Just listen.

Show that you care.

Get help.
